My dad is truly a
blessing
by Angela DeSimone
My dad is truly a blessing. He is
not my biological father, however I don't
think it takes blood to make a true dad. He has been my dad since I was seven
years old. My most fondest memories were all the trips we took and the time
he always took to play with me. As I grew into one of those confused
teenagers that think they know everything and their dad's know nothing. I
felt a wedge between us. I never wanted to listen to his advice and just
always thought he was on my case. We never talked, so I thought. Later I
understood, I just never listened. My Mom and dad have not been together
since I was 15. That didn't stop him from being my dad. Now as an adult I
think we have the best relationship, because I let my guard down and opened
my heart to clearly an awesome dad. He lives in Texas and I live in Florida.
The miles between seem so much less with e-mail, letters, cards, yearly
visits and he bought me a phone card to call him. He makes it a point for us
to stay connected. He makes me laugh when all I want to do is cry. He lends
me his ear and gives me good advice. He just seems to be there for me, no
matter what! He still calls me his kid. I guess he will until I am an old
lady. I think what makes my dad so special is that he take the TIME... To
me
his kid forever and always, Love is spelled T.I.M.E.
Thanks for listening to my story. If there is a message for other kids out
there that I would want to give is, there is nothing more special than your
dad, so open you heart and especially your ears. Dad's just might have
something to say that is important...
