Grandpa
by J. Boucher
Story 1005

Grandpa was a gentle spirited, kind loving man. My memories of him in my life are so many, I don't know where to start. I suppose the happenings that stand out most are the little consistencies he brought to my life.

'Grandpa,' just to say that word is somehow comforting and maybe even therapeutic. All the 'I remembers' and the 'He used to's...' are too many to comprehend. I love my Grandfather so much, I was going to ask him to be my best man in my wedding. People thought that was strange, but I think not. What is a best man anyway? I modeled him more than any other man I ever knew, so why is this strange? In my wedding or not, in my heart, Grandpa will always be my best man.

I know this story can't be too long but I want to share with you all, the most valuable things I learned from my Grandpa. One,"Love everyone the sames." ,as he would have said in his New England accent. Two,"Work hard.", and three,"You gotta have a good breakfast."

Grandpa made the best egg and cheese sandwich in the world, and I am convinced it was his loving heart that made it taste so good. I love you Grandpa.
